Mobile Peer Awards 2009 in Barcelona

MobileMonday Barcelona and the MobileMonday Community are organizing Mobile Peer Awards during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The February 16th event is expected to draw several hundred participants to see which of the international candidates are most successful in the eyes of the peers.

The competitors have been selected by local MobileMonday chapters based on the originality, creativity and innovativeness; technical and operational feasibility; and economic and financial viability.

An international jury of industry experts, investors and entrepreneurs will select the 20 finalists that will present on stage in Barcelona on February 16, 2009. Last year’s jury included representatives from Telefónica, Vodafone, Google, Yahoo!, AdMob, MobHappy, GoMoNews, Nexit Ventures, and Xtract. There are startups signed up to the competiton at least from from Buenos Aires, Boston, Berlin, Sweden, Belfast, Dublin, Jakarta, New York, Chennai. Mumbai, Tel Aviv, Tokyo, Madrid, Barcelona and Finland.

Previous MobileMonday Peer Awards winners include Realeyes 3D, Mobile Complete (now Device Anywhere) and Plazes in 2007; Buzzd, Funambol, Taptu and Kimia in 2008.

The Mobile Peer Awards will take place in the Petit Palau of Palau de la Musica on February 16, 2009 from 16H till 20H.

Opened almost exactly four years before the Mobile Peer Awards event takes place, on the 18th of February 2004, the Petit Palau hall is a new auditorium with 538 seats. The space features cutting-edge audiovisual equipment and has a modern, multi-purpose foyer for receptions.

The GSMA's Asia Mobile Awards and the Mobile Innovation Global Award Competition – Asia Pacific Tournament are now both open for entry! Take advantage of the opportunity to participate in the mobile industry's leading awards programmes and enter by 30 September 2008. Presentations of the awards will take place during the GSMA Mobile Asia Congress, being held 18-20 November 2008 at the Cotai Strip® CotaiExpo™ at The Venetian Macao Resort Hotel.

The GSMA's Asia Mobile Awards 2008 are designed to showcase change-driving products, services, and initiatives from across the mobile industry eco-system and that serve Asian markets. Categories for the Asia Mobile Awards will emphasize mobile entertainment, music, gaming, and mobile advertising.

This year's awards feature several new and exciting categories, reflecting hot topics in today's mobile business, such as Best Mobile Money Service, Best Mobile Internet Service, and a new Green Mobile Award category. The categories are:

Best Mobile Game
Best Mobile Music, TV, or Video Service
Best Mobile Advertising Service
Best Mobile Enterprise Product or Service
Best Mobile Internet Service
Best Mobile Money Service
Best Mobile Broadband Handset/Device

The Asia Mobile Awards are now open for entry, and will close on Tuesday, 30 September 2008.

Mobile Innovation 2009 Global Competition: 

Mobile Innovation 2009 Global Competition APAC Tournament

 

 

 

 The GSMA's Mobile Innovation Global Award Competition encourages breakthrough technology, applications, and services in the mobile industry by showcasing smaller start-up companies (with less than $20 million USD annual revenue) developing innovative products and solutions.

The APAC Tournament of the competition is open for entry through 30 September 2008, and will culminate with an awards ceremony during the Mobile Innovation Marketplace event in Macau. The categories are:

Most Innovative "True Mobile Start-Up"
(for companies with less than $1M annual revenue)
Most Innovative Carrier Infrastructure or Platform
Most Innovative Consumer Application or Service
Most Innovative Mobile Application in a Vertical Market
Most Innovative Wireless Device-Centric Technology

From the five category winners, two will emerge as Global Finalists and win a FREE trip to Barcelona for the GSMA Mobile World Congress, where they will compete against other Global Finalists for the prestigious title of "2009 GSMA Mobile Innovation Global Champion".
